Functieomschrijving
The overall objective of the new position is to develop and implement the Health Economics and Quality of Life strategy for the Netherlands and provide medical advice for dedicated therapeutic areas by:
- Collecting new and making best use of existing data to populate financial models and to create business cases that position the current offerings as being of economic as well as clinical benefit.
- Working with internal and external stakeholders to influence Governments, Health Authorities, Key Opinion Leaders and Patient associations through the macro-economic advantages of the company's product and services.
- Convince and support the Global and European organisation to produce NL required data to support the introduction of new and/or existing technologies and services.
- Contributing to pricing and reimbursement strategies for new and existing technologies and services.
- Initiate, develop and deliver medical and scientific input to Business Units which will optimise and achieve the commercial objectives for assigned products and therapy areas.
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Health Outcome and Medical Advisor can be devided in two parts; Health Outcome Research (HOR) and Medical.
Health Outcome Research:
- Provide health economic input to market access strategies for new and existing products.
- Practical business application of health economics: Data evaluation, synthesis and analysis of market information to create favourable evidence of priority products therapies and services. Work with internal and external customers to explore and apply elements of economic evaluations that influence therapy selection.
- Monitoring and measuring activity of the Dutch Health system related to the company interventions.
- In collaboration with European and Global colleagues, adaptation of economic models and analyses.
- Liaise with academic groups and key opinion leaders to ensure most robust and up to date methodology are included within HOR projects.
- Collaboration with internal stakeholders developing effective economic and reimbursement information. Deliver such to key constituents including public policy makers, healthcare executives and physicians.
- Proactive payer management in respect to HOR.
Medical:
- Develop expertise and scientific evaluation of assigned therapeutic areas through self-study, company-provided training and scientific meeting attendance in order to become the internal company expert for your product(s).
- Provide medical support for maintaining relevant product literature and developing / updating the relevant databases to ensure an informed, consistent and aligned corporate strategy.
- Be proactive in generating ideas for studies and identifying areas where research, new data and new materials may be beneficial to the company.
- Develop and maintain ongoing medical related relationships with external key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, government authorities, funding bodies and other entities to further the interests of the company.
- Support the Clinical Team in delivering their trials.
- Provide Medical advice in relation to company sponsored clinical research and investigator led studies.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with commercial colleagues and with key stakeholders in the company to enhance cross-functional teamwork and success.
- Liaise with external agencies in specific projects and to address specific internal business needs.
- Provide medical input to training materials and delivery of events to ensure accuracy of content.
- Attend selected national and international meeting and congresses and participate in external platforms and working groups to foster external relationships.
- Participate at internal European events and meetings where appropriate.
Functie-eisen
Job requirements for the Health Outcome and Medical Advisor:
- Medical/pharmacist or life science degree
- Postgraduate qualification in health economics
- 3-5 years experience in pharmaceutical or medical device corporate environment in the field of health economic practice, research and strategic consulting
- Ability to proactively grasp complex sets of information and act/plan accordingly
- Understanding and awareness of information sources
- Awareness of commercial environment
- Detailed knowledge of the Dutch Health care structures and clinical processes
- Emotionally intelligent: strong interpersonal and intrapersonal (e.g. self-awareness) ability; flexible/adaptable; and enthusiastic.
- Strong analytical (verbal and numerical information) and problem solving skills.
- Strong influencing skills.
- Self-directed leadership of own projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication (Dutch and English) and presentation skills.
